THE OPTIONS FOR MIDBASS DRIVERS ARE BROAD:
3" to 7" ScanSpeak, Accuton, Eton, Vifa, Seas, Peerless - basically any high end drivers.
WIRING OPTIONS:
We can accommodate various wire types and sizes for internal wiring but it must be of a kind which will not stress the terminals of the drivers either during operation or shipping.
The crossovers can be mounted internally or externally and almost any kind of binding post can be incorporated into the loudspeaker construction.
Cabinets can be made using two different types of construction. The first is the conventional 6 sided cabinet optimized with v3 technology and the second is the curved side cabinets.

CAVEATS
If you specify your own choice of midbass driver or a mix of our current midbasses which will represent a mismatch of sensitivities between Ribbons and midbass, then you will have to include an electronic crossover and biamping in your plans.
The good news - very high sensitivity and high impedance SE tube amp friendly designs are possible particularly with tall LineSource and our Neodymium Ribbons.
If you would like to proceed with a custom application, keep in mind that we will be starting with extremely high quality midbass drivers and our own superb Ribbon drivers. These will be incorporated in excellent midbass enclosures so the musical results will be there in the end. You’ll just have something that fits your life a little better than any other loudspeaker in the world.

R45 Ribbon Midrange Tweeter
The R45 is a classic design Ribbon used on our R645v3 model. It has thousands of fans around the world.
The R45 is designed as a top mount Ribbon for use above the cabinet housing the midbasses. Good efficiency, wide dispersion and superb soundstaging are the basis for the R45s classic status.
Simply put, nothing gets out of the way of the music like an R45 system. Excellent dynamics and the ability to achieve a very high level of transparency at high or low levels make the R45 suitable for a broad range of applications from low powered stereo systems to home theater to medium size public assembly sound systems.
For speaker kit builders, a simple 6dB (single capacitor) crossover and good quality midbasses are pretty much the only ingredients necessary to assure superbly musical results. Aim for a crossover of around 1kHz and when placing the speakers, try and give them as much air as possible. Very high end audio in a stereo or home theater system can be achieved with very modest effort and investment.

AUDIOPHILE CROSSOVERS
Active crossovers means the system has to have an amplifier for each driver.
Many people have been amazed and delighted with the Behringer DCX2496. Its capabilities are truly incredible and the flexibility and ease of configuration (once you get on top of the steep learning curve) have been a joy to many audiophiles and more than a few speaker designers. With pricing under $300 its price/capability ratio is off the scale. Somewhat spotty QC and problematic distribution policies have been the flies in the ointment. However, quality may be improving over the past few years and the price hasn't budged. Note that several companies upgrade the Behringers for improved sound quality.
There are other similar products. Here is a summary of the crossovers we know of. Most are from the pro world and require XLR connectors but Marchand is a well-known audiophile supplier.
