A basic $400 digital amp receiver (so far Panasonic and Sony -at a higher price- have them) with a $200 DVD player (say Panasonic with 192/24 dacs) with the R58s or R630v2s can produce real music. The system cost is under $2000 (even as low as $1500) and provides a great start to the high end audio experience. Any receiver will drive our loudspeakers the question is sound quality of the different units. Just be sure to end up with 60w + per channel for a normal range of listening levels. We saw and heard the prototype of this Panasonic/TI technology 4 years ago in a private showing by the TI team in a Las Vegas hotel room at CES. The nine pound 3" high, mid-fi priced XR45 gives no hint of being a high end product save its sound. The digital audio wave has now hit the beach. This is a killer package and represents the future of a changing home entertainment paradigm. Suitable for large rooms.|
