Good morning..Here are some pictures of the "speaker project" One is from the kitchen and you can just see the columns, note the maple veneered cabinets with doors matching the kitchen cabinets. The secondpicture is from the family room and shows the ribbon speakers (45" tall) attached to the column. The mid speaker is 5" and the woofer is 10". All the equipment is in the cabinet to the far right, with the speaker wires going down through the floor and coming up on the other side of the room. I'd say these are as good as $5000 speakers I've heard in show rooms, perhaps better. Not counting Beth and my labor, they probably cost $1500 in parts, material, wire, etc. It's been a long journey, but the result is worth it. Still missing is the 'beam' across the top (will be made of acoustic ceiling material and painted to match the ceiling. Well, gotta go do some planting before it gets too late. Allan |

Hi John,Attached is a picture of one of the speakers I build. The ribbon base is black granite. The subs are VMPS dedicated subwoofers. To me they sound terrific, the two mid drivers (Morel MW267) add more force to the sound, the definition is better, the soundstage is much more stable and location of each instrument, particularly voices, is great. By the way, it all comes alive with the great BBE DS48 xover. Without it, it would be disastrous. I guess using good passive xovers would also be a successful project. I would like to thank you for your help and encouragement in building them. I am really satisfied with the end result. Yehuda - Israel |
