LINESOURCE REFERENCE SYSTEM

The basic premise of a line source loudspeaker is its controlled vertical radiation pattern and its extended “near field” effect. This effect puts the listener in the body of air over which the loudspeaker has a great deal of control. The taller the line source relative to the frequency it is producing, the greater the distance in front of the speakers over which the “near field” effect extends.

Newform's breakthrough Coaxial Ribbon LineSource technology (patent applied for) produces a very large sweet spot and exceptional soundstaging.

Obviously, our Ribbons are line sources. The dual midbass drivers of the R645v3s form a very small line source. Mating the Ribbons to a large midbass line source consisting of multiples of the R645 engine results in a full line source system delivering the best of all worlds. Limited vertical and broad horizontal dispersion results in the minimization of room resonances and higher perceived sensitivity.

The LineSource Reference is a dramatic development in high end audio and loudspeaker design in general. It's configuration is patent pending. It's size is scalable. And it's sound is evolutionary.

It's patent pending coaxial Ribbon LineSource configuration allows it to produce a wider and deeper listening sweetspot than any other loudspeaker design produced to-date. With digital correction it holds the promise of complete phase coherence in the listening area, something that is simply not possible with dome tweeter/cone woofer based designs or parallel linesource (classic electrostatic and ribbon design) systems.

It is scalable to ideally match the size of the listening room. There need not any longer be an acoustic penalty for tall ceiling heights. Or tall listeners or step down floors or banked seats in a home theater.

The coaxial Ribbon LineSource technology allows unparalleled ease of setup while at the same time, given its Ribbon height adjustment and swivel capability, offers a higher degree of "tunability" than any other loudspeaker.
