Newform Research Update - October 2008Written by John MeyerThis update will focus on the new Coaxial LineSource Ribbon technology
(patent applied for). Not quite a scientific revolution, it still qualifies as a significant step
forward in the reproduction of music in the home.
The Newform Research Ribbon LineSource speakers provide a larger sweetspot and reduce degrading room interference better than any previous loudspeaker design. These speakers use our new Oval Ribbon which is a version of the classic Newform Ribbon optimized for the coaxial configuration with a reduced acoustic profile. The Coaxial Ribbon LineSource models reduce the degrading reflections inherent in any installation using conventional loudspeakers and thus reduce the work of any room correction system. They are amenable to eq and room compensation and produce better results with less processing. Baffle bounce? Minimized by the forward placement of the Ribbon and heavily radiused midbass enclosures. Dynamics? Lots of radiating surface plus linear movement = very, very high. Flexible? Two different models and highly scalable. Wide Horizontal Dispersion? Excellent. Ribbon transparency? As always. Efficiency? 94dB+ with high impedance. Amplifier friendly? Even easier to drive. Room friendly? That=s the whole idea. Aesthetics friendly? At last. With custom finishes as well. Bottom line? The Coaxial Ribbon LineSource speakers reduce some major errors inherent in the way conventional speakers interact with the room boundaries and allow the music to arrive more intact at the listeners ears than ever before. |
